When I wish as now to tell of critical incidents, persons, and events that have influenced my life and work,
the true answer is all of the incidents were critical, all of the people influenced me, everything that happened
and that is still happening influences me."

I have conversations with John Cage all the time. We agree on most everything, but I think I still have some control
issues. It's all a matter of perspective.

My paintings and assemblages are the stories I tell myself and the stories others have told me. Thoughts and memories,
the influences of those I have come in contact with. I enjoy listening to them all. Shared experiences of the universe
emerge and a connection is made. The common thread is within the structure and chaos of living with human beings. I
attempt to respond to the impact of bumping up against all sorts of people and places. In this sense they are the Chance
Operations of a life well lived. D
econstructing my past leads to a greater understanding of the shared past of all
humanity.

The surfaces I choose to work on h
ave a history of their own. They have a story to tell and often dictate what I can or
can't do to them.
Preparing the surface is an integral part of the finished piece, often taking longer than the painting itself.
I find myself having a conversation with a diaper and the concept for the painting is born.

I hope all the elements of my work combine to create a sense of what it is to live in the world with chaos, humor and
love.
